French tourist survives epic drop into the Grand Canyon

The 18-year-old Gallic globe-trotter was taking photographs of the Grand Canyon, when he slipped and fell over the edge, the National Park Service explained in a statement.

He was said to be in good condition at Flagstaff Medical Centre on Saturday morning after the fall on Thursday afternoon, which left him with neck, wrist and ankle injuries.

Fellow tourists looked on in horror as he landed unconscious on a ledge before being airlifted out in a park helicopter and transported by ambulance the medical centre.
