Not All Rooms Are Air Conditioned
Travel news: Some European hotel rooms are not so cool
NUREMBERG, Germany - When you are on vacation and touring around in the summer heat, sometimes one the best parts of the day is returning to your air-conditioned hotel room. If you are in Europe, however, do not get your hopes up to high.
A new study by hotel.info shows there is a major discrepancy in the "air conditioner density" of hotels in the major European cities investigated. Many hotels still offer their guests a "warm welcome," only this time the hotel room is where it's especially warm.
Of the major European cities investigated in the study, the Spanish capital Madrid is the destination where the most hotel operators offer their guests comfortable hotel room temperatures. Nearly three quarters of rooms are available with air conditioning in Madrid. Athens, Budapest, and Rome follow. Paris and Prague had an above average "air conditioner density" for their hotel rooms. Moscow, Warsaw, and London had comparatively poor results, pampering only around every fourth guest with a comfortable room temperature, and Stockholm came in dead last. Most hotel guests have to sweat it out during heat waves, which, admittedly, are not that common in Sweden.
The top 10 major European cities according to "air conditioner density" in the respective city's hotels by percentage:
1. Madrid..........72.7
2. Athens..........69.1
3. Budapest........66.7
4. Rome............66.6
5. Paris...........38.6
6. Prague..........37.9
7. London..........26.3
8. Warsaw..........23.2
9. Moscow..........23.0
10. Stockholm.......13.3
