TUCSON - The slumping economy and fears of swine flu kept tourists away from Arizona in 2009, according to state tourism officials.

The Arizona Office of Tourism released its report during the 30th Annual Governor's Conference on Tourism.

Tourists spent 10.2 percent less money in Arizona than the year before, according to the report.

The Office of Tourism also blamed fewer flights into Arizona, and what it called "negative perceptions" of the state for the decline in tourism dollars.
