Coki Point, St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands – According to reports, a 14-year-old cruise ship passenger visiting the island of St. Thomas was killed when she was caught in the middle of a shootout between two rival gangs.

Lizmarie Perez Chapparro, was struck and killed by a bullet while she rode on a sight-seeing bus with her family.

The bus was caught in the middle of gunfire as it took tourists to Coki Point Beach, a popular beach on U.S. Virgin Island.

The girl and her family were passengers on the Carnival Victory, which departs from San Juan, Puerto Rico, reports stated.

Carnival announced the cruise line has suspended tours to the neighborhood in which the girl was shot until further notice.

Another passenger was also injured in the gunfire.
