MADRID - The level of activity under the heading of IFEMA Conventions and Congresses during the first half of 2010 was highly positive, based on the corresponding participation figures. In effect, a total of 45 events were recorded up until last May, including externally-organized fairs, congresses, and activities of all kinds. These events featured the participation of a total of 1,425 companies and welcomed some 283,000 visitors. These figures confirm the popularity of the facilities at Feria de Madrid, in their capacity as one of the most sought-after venues among organizers of congresses, conventions, and other meetings, including various meetings of considerable international stature.
In this respect, with regard to fairs organized by independent bodies, the IFEMA fairground hosted the staging of a total of 11 fairs during the first five months of the year, based on the participation of 1,243 exhibitors and the attendance of 249,000 visitors. In short, the following events took place: Exporeclam in the month of January; Eurobijoux and OMExpo Madrid 2010 in February; Venatoria 2010, Expovital, Pulire España 2010, the Vocational Training Employment Fair and SITI/ASLA in March; the Gourmet Fair and Expoenvien in April; and, finally, SIMA 2010 in May.
With regard to the congresses that took place at Feria de Madrid, featuring the presence of some 182 companies and 8,900 participants, five events took place within very different fields: a series of Implantology Conferences in February; the Analgesia Symposium in April; the Tenth ITS Congress on Intelligent Transport Systems and the First Congress on Tourism and Gastronomy, both in May; and the Eleventh EFORT Congress in June.
Finally, a total of 29 events of other kinds were also staged, bringing together some 26,000 participants. January witnessed the staging of the Third Telefónica Indirect Channel Convention, the Caja Madrid Assembly, a Meeting organised by Johnson & Johnson and the Línea Directa - Mac Guffin Convention. In February, Feria de Madrid hosted the staging of the Caja España - Nueva Comunicación Convention, VForum and Showtime Communicacion - Disney. March was the turn of the Fifth Telefónica Management Summit, the Bank of Spain Exams, the National Instruments Convention, the Presentation of Diplomas from the Cesma Business School, and the the Pelayo Mutua de Seguros Convention, and the Reverencia - Cadre Noir Equestrian Show.
In April, the exhibition center facilities staged a considerable number of events: the Amper Meeting, the ACS Shareholders Board Meeting, the Off Site Unitronics Convention, the Citroën Convention, the Meeting of Montero y Robles Law Firm, the ESIC Congress - Hoy es Marketing 2010, and the SEPES - EU 2010 Convention, organized by the Ministry of Housing on Urban Sustainability. Finally, in May the exhibition center provided the venue for Pilates Day organized by Pilates Wellness and Energy, the Caja Madrid Assembly, the Maxam Convention - Annual Meeting of TDAS 2010, a Mercedes Benz Presentation, the Meeting of the ICCA Iberian Chapter, the AECOC - Techno-Marketing Congress, and the Annual Meeting of MMT Seguros.
