Industry official: Pope's visit to Cyprus will boost tourism

Nicosia - Pope Benedict XVI’s visit to Cyprus will have a positive effect on the tourism, Cypriot news agency CAN reports.

According to the chairperson of the Cypriot union of hotel owners – Haris Loizides, the visit of the head of the Roman Catholic Church in the period June 4-6 will boost the tourism in a very difficult period for the sector.

Many people from Lebanon, other Arabic countries, and some European countries have expressed interest in visiting the Cypriot island during the pope’s visit.
