Finnair has signed a four-year lease agreement with the “Pride of Africa,” Kenya Airways (KQ), commencing according to reliable sources from Nairobi on June 1. Finnair itself operates a fleet of these economical twin-engined, 70-seater jets, but according to other information obtained, it has leased several of them to other operators. It was also confirmed that it will be a “dry lease” under which Kenya Airways will provide the crews for the operation of the aircraft.
KQ already has three Embraer 170 flying for them and these latest additions to their fleet will undoubtedly assist to intensify their presence on domestic and regional routes, where the recent economic upswing has resulted in a recovering market and more demand.
It is expected that the two additional aircraft will be configured in a C/Y-cabin layout similar to the Embraer aircraft already operating under KQโs banner.
