This month, Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort celebrated five decades of welcoming guests from around the globe while providing vacations that connect visitors to the history and spirit of aloha. To celebrate the property’s 50th anniversary, Outrigger held a VIP Golden Anniversary bash Monday, July 24 – hosting more than 250 guests to a magical evening honoring the resort’s captivating journey in Waikiki along with a special concert featuring legendary Hawaiian artists at Blue Note Hawaii.

As part of the celebration, select guests staying at Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort received tickets to join the resort’s one-of-a-kind Golden Anniversary celebration that kicked-off with a welcome reception featuring signature cocktails alongside historic Outrigger memorabilia stationed throughout the resort property. Following the reception, award-winning Hawaiian music legends Henry Kapono, Alx Kawakami and Makana took the stage at Blue Note Hawaii providing guests with an unforgettable live performance during a sit-down anniversary dinner.

“We’re thrilled we were able to celebrate this golden anniversary with our loyal guests who have supported the history and spirit of Outrigger since the beginning,” said Revell Newton, general manager of Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort. “For the last five decades, Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort has dedicated itself to providing guests with our exceptional ‘aloha’ hospitality. We look forward to another five decades of setting the standard for authentic experiences and providing guests from around the world with an epic and immersive Hawaiian vacation the moment they arrive at our iconic resort property.”

Outrigger’s long-standing local philanthropic partner Waikiki Community Center and property land owner Queen Emma Land Company were also honored during the VIP Golden Anniversary event. Representatives from both partners received a special memento of thanks for their longstanding work with Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort.

Since it was established in 1967, Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort has been synonymous with Hawaiian hospitality and a vacation in paradise. Now, five decades later, what started as a prime oceanfront property owned by the Queen Emma Estate and occupied by the Outrigger Canoe Club in the early 1960s, has transformed into an extravagant 524-room resort destination where travellers from across the globe can experience local island culture and embrace the brand’s passion for exploration and discovery.

Today, the Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort’s premier position on world-famous Waikiki Beach and its exceptional “aloha” hospitality is centered around offering an array of destination-specific amenities, cultural programs and activities that provide opportunities for guests to experience a deeper connection to the destination. As part of its ongoing commitment to preserving and sharing the island’s rich heritage, Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort offers weekly cultural and educational activities and Signature Experiences, including a beachside Hawaiian-inspired vow renewal ceremony, lei making, ukulele lessons, canoe carving and painting displays, along with other special events year-round. The resort is also home to world famous Duke’s Waikiki, the legendary beachfront bar and restaurant, where guests can hear Hawaii’s popular performer, Henry Kapono, play every Sunday. Also on property is Blue Note Hawaii, the state’s premier venue for world-renowned artists, from jazz and blues to Hawaiian favorites, for limited engagements.
