Thanks to a last-minute look by Emirates at the plane's manifest, terror suspect Faisal Shahzad's named popped up, after having been added shortly after 12:00 noon on Monday, shortly before the flight was due to take off from New York's Kennedy airport.

The Department of Homeland Security has been requiring airlines to check the no-fly list every 24 hours, which in this case, would have proved insufficient to identify Shahzad, who was already on board the plane. Upon being notified by Emirates, US Customs and Border Protection officials had the aricraft doors re-opened so they could take Shahzad off the flight and into custody.

Because of this incident, the Obama administration is now requiring carriers to check the no-fly list within two hours of being notified of changes.

Shahzad, a US citizen from Pakistan, has been charged with terrorism and attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction. He is accused of rigging an SUV with a homemade bomb and driving it Saturday into Times Square, where he tried to detonate the device.

The NO FLY LIST has NEVER prevented
a terrorist from boarding an aircraft.

The formula for finding names on the
no fly list , currently relies on
a phonetic formula developed 125 years ago.

That formula cannot tell the difference
between the last name of terrorist mastermind
Osama bin Laden and punk rocker Johnny Rotten Lydon,
and as a result has precluded thousands of
innocent U.S citizens from boarding their flights

Recent government proposed "solutions" to terrorist
issues have included adding yet another [] check box
to those ancient check boxes in immigration
forms that ask ...

[] Are you a Communist?
[] Are you a Nazi?

With the new one asking

[] Are you a Terrorist?

How ignorant are we?
Does one really believe that the Communist,Nazi, or
Terroist is going to check that box?

Does one really believe
that REAL terrorists would not be able to,
like criminals and illegal immigrants go
to the typical places and purchase identification
documents for $60-$200 that currently will pass
any existing computer check?

Does anyone believe that making a fancier
more technological identification card
is going to stop a terrorist?

Dish Network television , having invested
million upon millions of dollars cannot
even stop people from stealing satellite TV!

The reason we do things like this, is it
makes us feel like we did something.

Remember the No Fly List has NEVER prevented
a terrorist from boarding an aircraft.

But keep in mind , now people are
suggesting that we start basing
the rights of U.S. citizens upon their
presence on the no fly list as reported by
the computer using that century plus old
name matching formula.

False positives have numbered in the thousands
and thousands.

Do we need to be tough on terror , YES YES YES,
but it needs to be effective and not just
a do nothing solution that does nothing but cause pain
and deprive innocent citizens of there rights.

The FUD sold concept is that everyone should
give up their rights even if the solution
solves nothng!
