Tolmachevo Airport – Participant of VI Transport of Siberia Forum

25 may 2017, NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport, being a part of «Silk Road in the air», has introduced the planned figures for the year of 2030 at the VI International Forum «Transport of Siberia».

Among the participants of the Forum Opening were the Envoy from the President of the Russian Federation in Siberian Federal District Sergey Menyaylo, the Deputy Minister of Transport of Russian Federation Valeriy Okulov, Governor of Novosibirsk Region Vladimir Gorodetsky.

Opening the Forum plenary meeting the Envoy of from the Russian President of Siberian Federal District Sergey Menyaylo pointed out that the development of regional aviation at the Siberian territory should be considered as the strategic and socially significant issue in terms of providing transport access to wide range of social groups and requires a new approach.

In the course of Forum Plenary meeting the General Director of JSC Airport Tolmachevo Yevgeny Yankilevich made a presentation of «All-Russia Passenger and Cargo Traffic Model Change based on hub airports development, Novosibirsk Airport (Tolmachevo) serving as an example. Perspectives towards 2030».

Yevgeny Yankilevich informed of planned passenger traffic increase from 4,7 mln. passengers in 2017 to 14 mln. by 2030. «At the same time the percent of transfer passenger will increase from 22% in 2017 up to 60% in 2030»,as he emphasized, «the major part of them will consist of residents of China and Southeast Asia».

In terms of cargo and mail transportation, the development of Tolmachevo airport as an international aviation hub enables to forecast the growth of cargo traffic from 28 thousand tons in 2017 up to 150 thousand tons by 2030. According to Yankilevich, 60% of them must be transfer cargo.

Besides, the General Director of the Airport has drawn the attention to the fact that Novosibirsk is practically a point that «Silk Road in the air» is going through: this route is taken by aircrafts of cargo airlines, which make technical and commercial stops on the way from China to Europe. Taking into account cargo transportation specific costs decrease expected in the nearest future and speed of air travel, the «Silk Road in the air» can present an alternative to the «New Silk Road» by railway. Along with that, together with the transfer cargo service development, Novosibirsk will become one of the main points on this route.

Traditionally, the key event of the Forum is the Air Transport Conference this year organized by Western-Siberian Territory Interregional Directorate of Federal Air Transport Agency, Ministry of Transport and Road Industry of Novosibirsk Region, S7 Airlines and JSC Airport Tolmachevo.

Among the issues discussed by the participants of the conference were the perspectives of regional air transportation development for Siberian regions in present-day realities, the projects on complex research in the sphere of advanced aircrafts created for regional and local transportation; implementation of the up-to-date technologies in the airport passenger service and other issues.

Within the framework of the Conference on May 24, 2017, there was an extended session of Aviation Development Expert Group under the supervision of the Envoy from the President of Russian Federation in the Siberian Federal District. The issues considered during the session were the effectiveness of air service subsidy program, as well as proposals on criteria change in terms of its economic efficiency growth and further development of aviation market.

As a result of Expert Group session the corresponding set of measures was formed, which would enable to extend state support of passenger air travel provided not only for Siberian Federal District, but for Russia as a whole.

The Forum will continue its sessions till May 27. This year it serves as a setting for intergovernmental negotiations on air traffic development between Russian Federation and Finland.

At the forum exhibition the joint stand of S7 Airlines and Tolmachevo airport presents the program of the airline flights from Novosibirsk including new regional destinations and other materials showing the development perspectives of Novosibirsk airport as a large aviation hub. Visitors of this booth could get acquainted with summer flight schedule of NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport.

International Forum Transport of Siberia is an annual business event including a number of meetings and conferences on transport system development in Siberian Federal District and in Russian Federation as a whole. The event is held by the Government of Novosibirsk Region together with the Mayor’s Office of Novosibirsk city and and ITE «Siberia» company with the support of Ministry of Transport of Russian Federation. The objective of the event is open discussion of hot topical issues of transport, road and logistic complex development, strengthening the cooperation between members of governmental system and business community.

Transport of Siberia Forum is a part of actions taken by the Ministry of Transport of Russia and it is marketed as a preliminary to Transport Week in Russia, which is annually held in Moscow at the end of November – beginning of December.
