World Travel Market (WTM), the premier global event for the travel industry, has appointed UK Travel Trade Gazette’s Deborah Dewe as it new head of sales.

Deborah joins WTM from her position as UK TTG sales director. She takes up the WTM head of sales position made vacant when Simon Press was promoted to WTM exhibition director in January.

Deborah has almost 15 years of travel industry and sales experience starting her career in 1996 as a specialist travel consultant at Travelbag, after completing a Diploma in Business and Travel at Hove College.

She then joined Flightbookers as sales manager before leaving in 2000 to embark on 10 highly successful years at TTG, which culminated in 2008 when Deborah was appointed sales director with responsibility for all the title’s revenue streams.

At World Travel Market, Deborah will be responsible for heading up the sales team and ensuring that WTM sales are driven strategically according to the direction of the event. She will be responsible for all revenue streams across Reed Travel Exhibition’s flagship event.

World Travel Market exhibition director Simon Press said: “I’m pleased to announce Deborah’s appointment to the position of WTM head of sales.

“She brings with her a wealth of travel industry experience, knowledge, and contacts, which will help the event’s evolution as host venue ExCeL–London expands in 2010.”

Deborah Dewe added, “I’m delighted to be joining World Travel Market and look forward to helping it cement its position as the premier global event for the travel industry.”

Deborah starts at World Travel Market on May 17, reporting to Simon Press.
