Gazprom Neft became a general partner of the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) Aviation Fuel Forum, which was hosted for the very first time in St. Petersburg, Russia. The event, which saw a record level of attendance, brought together over 650 delegates from 61 countries. The world’s largest 57 airlines as well as more than 100 companies operating in fuel and fueling equipment supplies were represented.

The participants of the Forum discussed issues relating to the introduction of unified international aviation fuel standards as well as the use of digital data transmission technologies in the aviation fuel industry. In addition, industry delegates talked about prospects for the development of oil market and trading platforms in various regions of the world. Gazprom Neft experts spoke on the commercial and technical panels of the IATA Forum.

IATA is the most authoritative industry organization, setting standards in the field of air transportation, safety, ground handling and settlement airlines. The annual IATA Aviation Fuel Forum is one of the most influential industry events, bringing together the key players in the aviation fuel supply market.
Alexander Dyukov, Director General of Gazprom Neft, said:

“The aviation fuel business of Gazprom Neft is developing rapidly. By 2025 we intend to double the volume of retail sales, bringing this figure to 4.5 million tonnes. We also plan to strengthen our position in the international market and enter the top 20 of the world’s aviation fuel operators. We are convinced that new technologies are key to increasing efficiency, including in the sphere of aviation fuel supply. To this end, we are cooperating with our industry peers on developing and implementing global digital data exchange (DDE) standards, which can be applied by aviation fuel operators and airlines all over the world. We value our strategic relationship with IATA very highly, and are keen to support the implementation of global commercial and process solutions.”

Mr Hemant Mistry – Director, Global Airport Infrastructure & Fuel IATA, said:

“IATA is happy to have been able to bring the Aviation Fuel Forum to the great and historical city of Saint Petersburg. The significant improvements in the jet fuel market conditions in the Russia, including competitive pricing and price transparency, modernisation of fuel facilities that are taking place at a number of airports, and efforts by fuel suppliers to improve their fuel handling capabilities, were some of the factors that influenced the decision to conduct the event in the Russian Federation.

The 74th Aviation Fuel Forum was a great success with over 650 delegates attending. During the event, a number of key milestones were achieved. These included an agreement with airline and oil industry partners to develop a global quality assurance program for handling jet fuel at airports, endorsement of the standardization and digitalisation of fuel data and messages, securing support of the authorities and market participants to ensure competitiveness and transparency in jet fuel pricing in the Russian Federation. As a result of the Forum, airline and oil industries also agreed to examine options to facilitate cost efficient supplies of jet fuel to remote airports.

IATA would like to thank Gazprom Neft and Gazpromneft-Aero for the unprecedented support from the planning stage to the organization of the event itself, which ensured the success of the 74th Aviation Fuel Forum.”
