The Labour Department has been working non-stop to mediate in the Cathay Pacific labour dispute, Secretary for Labour & Welfare Matthew Cheung says, adding the differences between the management and the staff union have further narrowed.

Mr Cheung today told reporters the department will continue to lobby and do its best to bring both sides back to the negotiating table, hoping a breakthrough will be achieved soon.

"We are very concerned about the likely implications on the travelling public. We are very concerned about the effect on the community. So we will do all we can to bring this to a satisfactory conclusion as quickly as possible."
