LUANDA - Angolan state-run airline Taag said on Thursday it was ready to renew its fleet after the European Union (EU) eased a safety ban on flying into the 27-nation bloc.

Taag spokesman Rui Carreira said the government was still studying the fleet renewal and would soon provide more details into the matter. He added that Taag was also looking to increase its routes but did not elaborate.

The European Union eased a ban on Taag -- imposed in 2007 due to safety concerns -- earlier this week, saying the airline had improved and could bring specific aircraft into the whole of the EU under strict conditions.
