A tourist from France was bit by a shark today at a popular beach on the island of Kauai in Hawaii known as Davidson’s at Kekaha Beach.

The visitor was surfing at around 100 yards from the shoreline when he was attacked by the 12-foot tiger shark.

The 28-year-old man suffered severe injuries to his lower right leg and had to be hospitalized. He was take to Wilcox Hospital on the island in critical condition.

Signs that a shark was sighted have been posted at the beach and will remain up until tomorrow when lifeguards reassess the water.
