Airline pilot dies at controls
The pilot of a commercial airliner carrying 150 passengers collapsed and died from a heart attack at the controls while 32,000ft above sea level.
According to media reports in the United Kingdom, co-pilot First Officer Michael Warren, 43, was at the helm of the GB Airways plane en route from Manchester to Cyprus when he died.
The Daily Mail newspaper in Britain said the flight was diverted to Istanbul Airport as colleagues worked to revive Mr Warren - but he was declared dead by the time the plane landed.
A spokesman for GB Airways, a franchise of British Airways, said the flight was never at risk.
Mr Warren, who was an RAF Tornado fighter squadron leader in the first Gulf War, was survived by his wife and two young children, the newspaper said.
