Following the bomb blast at the German Bakery a famous eatery frequented by foreigners in Pune on Saturday, tourists arriving from Europe are advised to take maximum precaution, while travelling to the densely populated parts of India.
The US, the UK and Australia have issued travel advisories to their citizens in view of the bomb blast asking them to maintain a “heightened situational awareness and a low profile”.
European and US citizens are strongly encouraged to maintain a high level of vigilance, be aware of local events, and take the appropriate steps to bolster their personal security.
French president Nicolas Sarkozy strongly condemned the “abominable” terror attack in Pune and expressed support to India in its efforts to bring to justice the perpetrators of the “cowardly” act.
Two foreigners, an Italian woman and an Iranian male student, were among the nine persons killed in the terror strike. 53 people are seriously injured. Officials said the deadly RDX and Ammonium Nitrate were suspected to have been used.
