Meeting At FITUR

Kenya tourism minister meets King of Spain

By Wolfgang H. Thome, eTN | Feb 01, 2010

The Kenyan minister for tourism, Hon. Najib Balala, led the Kenyan tourism delegation to FITUR last week, Spain’s most important tourism trade show held annually in Madrid.

During the formal opening, the King of Spain His Majesty Juan Carlos and the Queen Sofia Carlos visited the Kenyan stand, giving not only a good photo opportunity for the Kenyans promoting tourism but in particular to the minister, who was beaming with smiles as later seen in pictures.

After the formal opening and walk about was over, however, it was immediately down to business and initial reports from all the Eastern African participants, who were overwhelmingly positive as demand for holidays in East Africa – and the Indian Ocean countries – was showing a significant rise compared to a year ago.
