Beginning in early February, RwandAir, the Rwandan national airline, will once again fly to Johannesburg. Traffic days will initially be Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday – although daily flights are still planned at a later stage, subject to the delivery of more aircraft.

Special FIFA World Cup offers will be put on the market shortly to allow football fans from Eastern Africa to fly to South Africa with RwandAir when the tournament is going underway in June. Also due in early February are the new flights to Dar es Salaam, which will route via Bujumbura, a short hop with the CRJ from Kigali. These flights will operate on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays and will again be operated with CRJ200 aircraft.

Later in the year, the airline plans to begin flights to Kisangani, Kinshasa, and Lubumbashi when additional aircraft have been acquired and delivered. The sourcing for this is now reaching an advanced stage and appears to be leaning towards the purchase of a B737-800.
