Information was received from sources in Khartoum that several families of victims of the Sudan Airways crash, while landing in the Sudanese capital a year ago, have filed suit in the United States, namely the Circuit Court in Cook County, Illinois.

A number of other companies related to the aviation industry, like United Technologies, Goodrich, Eaton Corporation, and GE Aviation, amongst others, are also being sued. It is not known at this time if Sudan Airways has also been included in the suit as a respondent, which was the operator of the stricken aircraft, or if the Sudanese regulators were included as they only halted Sudan Airways’ operations two week after the crash, in spite of earlier misgivings and temporary suspensions.

The flight originated in Amman, passed through Damascus, and landed in Khartoum. Twenty-nine passengers and crew died in the accident.
