Reports were received from Nairobi that at a recent trade show, Kenya was recognized as the third best-liked destination by Chinese travelers, a huge bonus for the tourism sector in this east African country.

Although few direct air links exist yet between the two countries or the region as a whole, at least Kenya Airways currently flies between Kenya and China to Guangzhou, while Ethiopian and Emirates also offers connections via their home hubs.

To significantly increase tourism arrivals from China, more direct flights are needed, and there is speculation in aviation observer circles that, sooner rather than later, a Chinese airline will commence services nonstop to Nairobi or even other major airports in east Africa.
