Following the recent acquisition of two CRJ200 aircraft from Germany’s Lufthansa, which come with a spare part and maintenance support package, RwandAir has reportedly recruited 6 Rwandan aircraft engineers, who will now work alongside their German counterparts as understudies to eventually attain certification for this aircraft type as fully licensed engineering and maintenance staff.

Lufthansa Technik, the maintenance and engineering arm of the airline group, will avail training for the Rwandans in both Germany, where they will undergo specific courses and training for this aircraft type, before returning to Rwanda to continue their training assignments in a hands-on fashion.

RwandAir has recruited a director of training who will oversee this program and other activities to train sufficient Rwandan nationals to cater for the forthcoming fleet and network expansion planned by the airline.
