Part of Tanzania’s railway network in the center of the country was flooded following extensive torrential rains in several parts of the eastern African nation, prompting trains to be halted and passengers receiving refunds for tickets already purchased and paid for.

Other passengers stuck in trains unable to move further were rescued when the railways company sent busses to bring passengers to their final destination.

Reports of weather-related problems came in from various parts of eastern Africa, where torrential rains hammered down, washing away crops, flooding roads and bridges, and triggering landslides in the process.
