A rare second full moon in December shone over Kampala on a clear night on New Year’s Eve, as revelers across the city filled hotels, nightclubs, restaurants, churches, and the main national stadium, to feast, dance, or pray their way into 2010.

When midnight arrived, dozens of places across the city erupted with fireworks, which lit up the sky even more, and cheers erupted from crowds everywhere, greeting the new year and appreciating some of the spectacular firework displays, like the one coming from the rooftop of the Sheraton Kampala Hotel, which exceled again in leading the country’s celebrations.

Happy New Year to all!
