Jamaica wins the title of Best Caribbean Destination

The popular luxury yacht charter destination of Jamaica has won a prestigious tourism award.

Travel Weekly's Readers' Choice Awards took place recently in New York, with Jamaica scooping the title of Best Caribbean Destination.

Director of tourism for the island John Lynch told South Florida Caribbean News that 2009 has been a big year for the tropical destination, with increased air traffic and development helping to make it an even more attractive holiday location.

"We look forward to continuing to grow and enhance our tourism product to meet the ever changing needs and interests of travellers," he said.

As one of the larger Caribbean islands, Jamaica has a lot to offer luxury yacht charter customers visiting while on a tour of the archipelago.

One upcoming event is the Jamaican Jazz and Blues Festival, which takes place in January on the north side of the island and features Joss Stone, Gladys Knight and Billy Idol.
