Airports of the world: Tribhuvan International Airport of Nepal

Not all airport toilets are created equal. Some offer the latest available technologies, while others just don’t even know the very definition of the word sanitary.

Not all airport toilets are created equal. Some offer the latest available technologies, while others just don’t even know the very definition of the word sanitary. From time to time, we will be featuring our airport encounters in our weekly eTN Photo Edition. You are certainly most welcome to send in yours. The idea here is to applaud the efforts of airport managers who are up to par with international standards, while bringing attention to those who aren’t doing a good job at maintaining their international airports.

Today’s entry is a bit shocking in that it clearly shows that managers of Kathmandu, Nepal’s Tribhuvan International Airport is in a dire need to re-evaluate their sanitary procedures, as the threat of H1N1 is very much still a major concern. Come on, an over-flooded toilet sink with everyone and anyone’s collective germs? I demand change!

This photo was taken at the men’s restroom at the airport’s international departure lounge on November 27, 2009.
