South Korea: Security must be guaranteed in order to revive Mt. Kumgang tourism
The South Korean government has reiterated that security must be guaranteed in order to revive tourism at North Korea's Mt. Kumgang.
Marking the 11th anniversary of the inter-Korean joint tour project, Seoul's Unification Ministry said remaining questions over the tragic shooting death of a South Korean tourist last year must be answered first and preventative measures set up before travel to the region can be resumed.
A year after halting the trips, tour operator Hyundai's chairwoman Hyun Jeong-eun met with North Korean leader Kim Jong-il and agreed in principle to resume travel to the mountain resort.
