Craig Harris, Chairman of Cruise NZ while confirming the move, asserted, “It is a real coup for New Zealand".

Harris expressed satisfaction over customers’ response and said that the industry had made bookings for 2010 season. Pearl would have all modern facilities such as restaurants, six bars and lounges, spa, fitness centre and gym, swimming pools and many more.

Ann Sherry, CEO of Carnival Australia and New Zealand said that the firm is doing well in New Zealand and hopes even better performance in future. Sherry added, "Cruising has proven remarkably recession-resistant. As the world economy starts to recover, I believe we are in for sustained growth,"
Prime Minister John Key said that Pacific Pearl will boost the cruise industry bringing an additional $3 million to Auckland over the 2010 summer season. The Prime Minister informed, “The cruise industry is of huge value to both national and regional tourism markets, with each visit contributing around $500,000 through port fees, stores and passenger spending.”
