Second batch of Chinese meeting with tourism stakeholders arrives in Grenada

ST. GEORGE’S, Grenada (eTN) - Within days of a Chinese delegation from the Aviation Industry Corporation of China acknowledging that there are areas in Grenada’s tourism product that are of interest to them a second batch has arrived to sample the product.

Grenada is hosting a six-member delegation from Guangdong Province, from The People’s Republic of China, beginning today, September 22nd 2009. The main objective of the visit by the Chinese Officials is to engage key stakeholders within the tourism sector with a view to understanding the product, and exploring the possibilities for development for tourism and travel between the two countries.

The Chinese delegation has met with Tourism Minster Glynis Roberts, members of the Grenada Board of Tourism, the Grenada Hotel Association, representatives of travel agents, tour and golf operators.

The parties are expected to hold discussions on Grenada’s main tourism projects, successful experiences on tourism development, Grenada’s tourism source markets, successful touring routes throughout the country, and cooperation on developing the tourism markets of Grenada and Guangdong province of China.

The Chinese delegation is headed by Wang Zhihong, the deputy general of the tourism administration of Guangdon province of the People’s Republic of China and includes Messers Fu Jinxian, deputy director of the Industry Management Department of Tourism Administration of Guangdong province; Fu Qunying, the deputy secretary general of the Guangdon People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries; Shi Zhibing, vice president of GZL International Travel Service LTD; Jiang Yue, senior staff member of Guangdong People’s Association for friendship with Foreign Countries; and Cai Rongming, deputy managing director of the Guangdong Yuelu Group LTD.

YES THE CHINESE ARE INTERESTED IN GRENADA BUT MOST PROBABLY FOR ANOTHER REASON THAT IS NOT YET EVIDENT TO GRENADA OR THE U.S. AND THAT IS THE RUSSIAN/CUBAN BUILT 10,000 FOOT RUNWAY IN THE U.S. BACKYARD TO LAND MORE THAN TOURISTS IN THE FUTURE I WOULD SAY. WE HAD TO SHOVE THE CUBANS OUT OF THERE YEARS AGO AND WHAT NEXT - CHINESE?
