LOS ANGELES — Three Americans who were expelled from Cambodia have been formally indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of engaging in sex tourism with children abroad.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials say Ronald Boyajian, Erik Peeters and Jack Sporich were indicted Tuesday in Los Angeles.

The three men are the first defendants to be charged under "Operation Twisted Traveler," an international initiative to crack down on Americans who travel to Cambodia to have sex with minors.

ICE and the Department of Justice worked with the Department of State, Cambodian police and non-profits to identify the defendants.

Each could face up to 30 years in prison per victim if convicted. They are in custody and scheduled to be arraigned on Monday in U.S. District Court.
