Uganda Tourism Association aids Teso famine victims
Kampala — The Uganda Tourism Association has donated food worth Shs7 million to people in the hunger-stricken region of Teso.
The food was donated through the Uganda Red Cross Society (URCS).
Handing over the food to the URCS in Kampala last week, the Chairman of the Uganda Tourism Association, Mr Amos Wekesa, said the hunger stricken region has a lot of tourism potential which the government has not utilised.
The URCS Programmes Officer, Mr Peter Buyondo, called for more food donations to people of Teso.
On July 9, the organisation made an appeal for Shs5.6 billion to buy 3,030 metric tonnes of food but not much of this has been achieved.
"We are yet to make assessment since the appeal is still on, " Mr Buyondo said.

Sirs,
they should look after their own industry instead of looking for cheap publicity. no matter how ok it is to assist hungry Ugandans. Tourism is not doing good in Uganda and that association has almost disappeared now, the airline sector knows that very well.
Yours faithfully
