TourCrafters offers Italy packages starting at US$696
It may seem odd — when the crowds have gone home, Rome's daily high is 63º Fahrenheit, and the weather is perfect for sightseeing — that airlines, hotels, and Tourcrafters lower their prices in November. But that's the way it is.
Though dates vary depending on the hotel, TourCrafters is offering some great bargains from the beginning of November to the end of March (with the exception of the holidays, fair days, and Venice Carnival). All of the packages include air fare from New York on Alitalia, fuel surcharges, four nights' hotel accommodation, four buffet breakfasts, hotel service charges, and taxes.
The least expensive package, the Florence Special, starts at only US$696 for four nights at the 3-star Hotel Meridiana, a modern hotel with comfortable rooms and a restaurant. Of course, those who want a fancier hotel can upgrade to the 4-star Hotel Kraft (US$799) or even the Grand Hotel Baglioni (US$910).
The Rome Special starts at US$709 (in January) at the centrally-located, 3-star Hotel Brasile and US$789 at the 4-star Hotel Beverly Hills in the upscale Parioli district. Possible upgrades include the 5-star Bernini Bristol Hotel, which is located at the beginning of the Via Veneto and is surrounded by the best shopping.
In Venice, the special ranges from US$734 at the 3-star Hotel Malibran, not far from the Rialto Bridge, to US$1,037 at the 4-star Palazzo Stern on the Grand Canal.
An important note about these packages: they must be booked by October 30 and reservations must be paid for within 72 hours of booking. All prices quoted are per person, double occupancy, are subject to availability, and do not include taxes.
