Managing director at the Carl Marks Real Estate Group LLC, Martin Schiffman, will discuss how participants in the hospitality industry can survive current economic challenges during hotel conferences in Phoenix this month and in Venice, Italy in October.

At the Lodging Conference, September 22-25 in Phoenix, Schiffman will participate in How to Stop Losing Sleep Over the Financial Crisis, a three-person panel discussion focusing on the history of recessions since the 1970s and the effectiveness of vigorous, creative management and workout strategies on decreasing the risk of failure during downturns. The discussion will take place September 23.

Schiffman also will moderate a panel discussion at the conference examining the impact of the challenged global economy on the industry. The Effect of the Global Slowdown on the Hospitality Industry will be held September 24.
In its 15th year, the Lodging Conference provides industry leaders with the opportunity to explore solutions to the challenges facing the hotel industry. It is recognized as the most noteworthy hotel conference for deal making in the United States.

In light of the fact the European hotel industry is suffering the same problems as those in the US, Schiffman will serve as panel moderator for an encore presentation of The Effect of the Global Slowdown on the Hospitality Industry at the International Hotel Conference in Venice on October 23.

The 7th annual International Hotel Conference, which takes place October 21-23, is a gathering of industry leaders from 50 countries who will meet to discuss industry challenges, reflecting the venue appropriately themed, Navigating the Waters of Today's Economy. Individuals will share ideas and discuss best practices for the global hotel industry.
