CEO of Finnair Resigns

Aug 08, 2009

Finnair's chief executive announced his resignation today amid reports of the airlines second-quarter loss. As with other airlines, low fares and passenger numbers were cited as the cause of the huge loss.

"I am not satisfied with the results achieved; the rate of change has been insufficient," Finnair's chief executive Jukka Hienonen said in a statement.

For the April to June period, the company reported a net loss of 26.1 million euros (US$37 million) compared to a net profit of 13.4 million euros in the same period of last year.
