The Princess Cruises ship the “Ruby Princess” was inspected for swine flu when it stopped in Greece on the request of the cruise line. As a result of exams by a team of Greek doctors, five passengers were confined to their cabins for the duration of the vessel’s stay in the port of Piraeus outside of Athens.

While this may sound like bad news – and it certainly was for those poor passengers afflicted with the flu during their vacation – the cruise ship industry is hailing the action as showing that cruising will continue relatively uninterrupted even when a few passengers contract the swine flu.
