Laguna Phuket welcomes US Secretary of State to the 42nd ASEAN Ministerial meetings

Laguna Phuket executives, associates, and guests were not disappointed as they caught a glimpse of the eagerly-anticipated arrival of the US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Laguna Phuket is hosting a set of integral ASEAN meetings from July 17, which wrap up on July 23. Meetings have been conducted primarily at the Sheraton Grande Laguna Phuket with most of the media activities, including press conferences, held at Laguna Beach Resort.

Monday’s itinerary included an opening speech by the Prime Minister of Thailand Abhisit Vejjajiva, in which he explained the agenda and objectives of the meetings, including topics such as human rights, swine flu, and the global economy.

Michael Ayling, managing director of Laguna Resorts & Hotels Plc commented: “We are honored to host such a high-profile event and delighted to welcome so many nations’ ministers to the resort. The business this event has also brought to the island has been a fantastic boost to the local economy”.
