Former winners Wang Ter-chang of Chinese Taipei and Australian Terry Pilkadaris will aim to relive their past success at the Brunei Open from July 30 to August 2.

They will headline the US$300,000 Asian tour tournament along with Filipino trio Frankie Minoza, Juvic Pagunsan, and Artemio Murakami; Chinese Taipei's Lu Wen-teh; Thailand's Thaworn Wiratchant; Korea's Mo Joong-kyung; and Australians David Gleeson, Scott Hend, and defending champion Rick Kulacz.

Pilkadaris, who is competing in this week's British Open, holds the honor of winning the inaugural Brunei Open in 2005 where he romped to an emphatic five-stroke victory over compatriot Jarrod Lyle. His triumph at the majestic Empire Hotel and Country Club marked his third win on the Asian Tour.

The tenacious Australian enjoyed a tied 11th finish at the Ballatine's Championship in Korea earlier this season, which helped him to 20th place on the Order of Merit, and he will be looking to improve on his position at the Brunei Open.

Veteran Wang, the second winner of the Brunei Open, will be shooting to get his season back on track as he has struggled with his renowned steady form, which has yielded four career titles.

Last year's runner-up, Lu, who lost in a play-off to Kulacz, will look to put his defeat behind him as he prepares to launch another title assault at the Empire course. Like Wang, Lu, a five-time Asian Tour winner, needs to reignite his game as he also struggled to find his best form in the front half of the year.

Pagunsan, winner of the 2007 Pertamina Indonesia President Invitational and Murakami, who triumphed in the Iskandar Johor Open in 2007, are also in the fray as they aim to sparkle at the par-71 Jack Nicklaus designed venue.

Sweet-swinging Pagunsan has chalked two top-10 finishes at the Asian Tour International and Singha Thailand Open this season, while Murakami's best finish so far was tied for 28th place at the Black Mountain Masters in Thailand.

Minoza, who claimed the 2007 Philippine Open title, is testament that age is no barrier as he continues to strive for success at the highest level. The 50-year-old's best finish this year was tied 15th at the Black Mountain Masters and another top-10 finish in Japan.

Mo, who is a two-time Asian Tour winner, will also be in the elite field as he plans to build on two top-20s earlier in the season.

Gleeson, a two-time Asian Tour winner, enjoyed his career best season in 2008 with one victory and seven top-10s while Hend, winner at last year's Pertamina Indonesia President Invitational, will be a threat thanks to his big-hitting game where he is regarded as one of the longest drivers on the Asian Tour.

Thaworn, a 10-time Asian Tour winner and the 2005 Order of Merit champion, is also set come back stronger in the second half of the Asian Tour season. He won a domestic title in Malaysia recently and much is expected from the trailblazer from Thailand.

Brunei Shell Petroleum will title sponsor the Brunei Open, while other partners include Brunei Tourism, under the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources; The Empire Hotel and Country Club; the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports; Brunei Darussalam Golf Association; Cross Creek; and Srixon.
