According to a Harris Poll released July 9, Australia is once again the most favorable vacation destination for Americans outside of the United States – if cost was not a consideration – re-capturing a spot it has held for 11 of the past 12 years.

“We are thrilled that Australia continues to rank number one among Americans,” said Michelle Gysberts, vice president of the Americas, Tourism Australia. “Over the last several months, we have seen fares that are as much as 40 percent less than they were a year ago, meaning Americans can now act on their desires to visit Australia.”

“The additional airline routes and partners that have established service to Australia in the past year, including V Australia, Delta, and Emirates, provide travelers more affordable travel options. They have joined our existing carriers Qantas and United, resulting in more choice for consumers and allowing them to align with their existing carriers and airline mile partners on flights,” continued Gysberts.

Additionally, the strong US dollar has made travel throughout the country increasingly affordable.
