Hawaiian Airlines: June traffic up 7.4%

Hawaiian Airlines recorded 701.6 million revenue passenger miles last month, up from the 653.4 million revenue passenger miles flown in June 2008. A revenue passenger mile is an industry unit measuring one paying passenger flown one mile.

The airline boosted capacity by 3 percent to 825.3 million available seat miles from 801.5 million available seat miles.

Load factor, or occupancy, rose to 85 percent from 81.5 percent.

For the first six months of the year, Hawaiian said traffic rose 1 percent to 4.01 billion revenue passenger miles.

Capacity rose 3.3 percent to 4.83 billion available seat miles while occupancy fell 1.9 percentage points to 83.1 percent.
